Aloha, I’m Brian. I run Tama Laundry in Honolulu, I’ve done over $2M in laundry revenue, and I’ve never owned a washer. Thanks for listening to me and Jordan. Here’s the breakdown we talked about, and the software I built to run it.
A Friday afternoon route out of my own business: 8 stops, 165 pounds.
| Revenue | $570.55 |
| Washing, driver pay and gas | −$390.85 |
| Kept | $179.70 |
The lesson from the episode: the route is the product. Price per pound minus what it costs to wash, times how many pounds you move an hour, minus the van. Density is the lever. Eight stops in two neighborhoods pays. Eight stops across the island doesn’t.
For years I only learned numbers like that at the end of the month. Tama OS shows each route’s profit before the van leaves, so I can tell which neighborhoods get which days. The full breakdown is on the economics page.
After the trial it’s $199 a month flat for one van, month-to-month, and never a percentage of your sales. Full pricing.
Set up your zones, prices and Stripe payouts in about 15 minutes. If it doesn’t pay for itself, walk away.
Tell me where you are. I read these myself and reply, usually between routes.
