Boilerplate
Tama OS is the operating system for laundry pickup & delivery businesses — booking, dispatch, driver and customer apps, payments, and a staff of named AI employees — built inside Tama Laundry, Honolulu's #1-ranked laundry service, by the founder who still drives its routes. Operators get 60 days free, then one flat monthly price from $199 with every feature in every plan and no percentage of sales. Tama OS LLC is headquartered in Honolulu, Hawai‘i.
Fast facts
- Founded by Brian "Tama" Hofer, who started Tama Laundry with a phone and a Honda Civic
- $30K+ months in live laundry operations; 4.8 stars on Yelp, and a top-two Yelp result for laundry delivery in Honolulu (depending on where you search)
- Pricing: flat monthly plans, $199 (one van), $299 (up to three vans), $449 (multi-store); no percentage of sales; every feature in every plan; first 60 days free
- AI staff: Kalia (text assistant), Kai (dispatcher), Maya (marketing), Ivy (B2B sales), Pulse (retention), Rex (collections)
- Customer experience: each operator's own booking site and customer web app, with an optional branded App Store app
- Built from four years of real pickup-and-delivery operations in Honolulu
Story angles
- The anti-VC playbook: a bootstrapped Hawaii operator open-sourcing his own back office against a $140M-funded incumbent
- AI as staff, not features: a solo founder running multi-van logistics with six named AI employees
- The empowerment economy: one flat price and never a cut of sales — designed to create business owners, not extract from them
- Time back, locally delivered: how reliable laundry service gives customers hours back while creating opportunity for local operators
Founder bio (short)
Brian "Tama" Hofer is the founder of Tama Laundry and Tama OS. He started Honolulu's #1-ranked laundry pickup & delivery service in 2022 with a phone and a car, built its software himself between routes, and now licenses that platform to laundry operators nationwide. He still drives.
